| Task |
The Bauerfeind AG, one of the leading manufacturers of medical utilities, has decided to build a new central
warehouse in Zeulenroda/east Thuringia nearby the company headquarters. For the handling of 40.000
automatic small-parts warehouse - storage cells and the feed-in of the various commissioning and packing areas
Aberle Steuerungstechnik GmbH was responsible for the logistical concept and its realization as general contractor.

| Integrated components |
by Simatic S7-controls, one S7 416-2DP for the containerand carton conveyor technique and six S7 315-2DP for
the automatic S/R machines and a high decentralization with Profibus-DP. The warehouse control system was
constructed as a server with hot-standby solution and three user clients incl. failure visualization. The connection
to the customer-side host and to the subordinate control level is done by Ethernet with TCP/IP.

| Solution |
The new central warehouse has more than 8000 m2 storage space. The central function has a 6-alley smallparts warehouse with fast automatic S/R machines. The connecting conveyor technique is designed for a conveyor
capability of 1000 containers per hour and is divided into a container- and a carton conveying section. Altogether 1000 m conveyor technique have been
constructed. The plants` flow of material is controlled by 51 scanners. Aberle has worked out a number of emergency strategies in order to ensure 4.500 up to 5000 parcels daily to get on their way to the customer. |

| Advantages for the customers |
After the trouble-free start-up phase of the new warehouse Bauerfeind is today in a position to ship all products from
one control centre. Furthermore several different orders of one customer can be combined in one collective
shipment. With the start up of the new central warehouse today Bauerfeind grants shipment of the products within 24 hours. |
